On October 15, 2025, Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan, hosted the 8th General Assembly Meeting of the Turkic Universities Union (TÜRKÜNİB) under the Organization of Turkic States (OTS).

The General Assembly was attended by Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) Kubanychbek Omuraliev, Uzbekistan’s Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Innovation Kongratbay Sharipov, President of the Turkic Academy Shakhin Mustafayev, as well as rectors, academics, and representatives from more than 70 member universities working to strengthen cooperation in higher education across the Turkic world.

Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University Rector Prof. Dr. Alpaslan Ceylan also participated in the 8th General Assembly Meeting of TÜRKÜNİB and delivered an evaluation presentation within the framework of the Orhun Exchange Program.

In his presentation, Prof. Dr. Ceylan emphasized the importance of strengthening academic cooperation among higher education institutions in the Turkic world, increasing student and faculty mobility, and developing joint scientific projects.

Prof. Dr. Ceylan highlighted that Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University serves as a pioneering higher education institution that acts as a bridge in the fields of education, science, and culture throughout the Turkic world, stating: “The common future of the Turkic states will be built by our young people, equipped with knowledge and raised in the spirit of solidarity.”

During the meeting, participants emphasized the importance of collaboration among higher education institutions and discussed topics such as enhancing the Orhun Exchange Program, strengthening the institutional structure of TÜRKÜNİB, and establishing a Research and Innovation Fund. Additionally, the concept paper on the “Special Program Fund for the TÜRKÜNİB Permanent Secretariat and the Orhun Exchange Program,” prepared by the OTS Secretariat, was reviewed during the sessions.

Acdemic Cooperation Visits Following the General Assembly

After the General Assembly, Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University Rector Prof. Dr. Alpaslan Ceylan visited several universities in the region as part of the program, during which academic cooperation protocols were signed.

These visits conducted by Rector Prof. Dr. Ceylan were regarded as important steps toward enhancing joint initiatives in higher education across the Turkic world and strengthening inter-university solidarity.

Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University continues to lead projects that foster scientific, cultural, and academic cooperation within the Turkic world.
